Assignment begins below. Please take the course of your week to complete. If it takes you longer, that is okay. Be patient with yourself as you thoughtfully think through it all.
Goal
This week, we are going to deliberately set intention for the everything on our schedule. “What do you mean?” well, i’m glad you asked! Take a look at your regular routine/schedule. Each week, we wake up on Monday morning and auto-pilot our way to Friday. It’s the same week after week…get the kids up and dressed and out the door, get to work, rat race work, lunch, finish rat race work, hustle home, figure out dinner, so on and so on…
What would happen if on Sunday night, we set our intention for Monday morning? “Tomorrow, I’m going to walk every single step in extreme gratefulness for each moment. I will be present in every conversation, every bite of food, every hug my kid gives me, I will savor each minute as if it were going to be my last.”
Of course, that is just an example. Intentions i’ve set in the past: To be more confident in my decisions, To say “no” to at least 3 requests of my time/talents because my plate is full, To be kind regardless of how i’m feeling, To find time to meditate for fifteen minutes throughout my day…
So go on…set your intention for the week! How will you craft your week to be? How do you want to feel this coming week? What do you want others around you to feel this coming week? SET IT. Then be intentional about doing it. Create a new one for each day of the week if you wish…perhaps setting a new intention each night for the following day.
In your journal, write your intention and the reason why you’ve set THIS as your intention. Make it clear…you may need to come back to it throughout your week as a reminder as to WHY!
Identify
How easy/difficult was it for you to think of your intention for the week? When you read that, did you feel relaxed or anxious? Does the thought of intentionally taking control of what your emotional week will look like feel daunting to you? Write down what your feelings were and why. Are we so well trained in rat race mentality that taking ourselves OUT of the rat race seems blasphemous? If so, I think we are on the right track!
Affirmation
We’ve set our intention for the week, written it all down, identified how that made us feel and maybe why we feel this way…I think we are ready to tackle it all!
Affirmation: “I deserve to have full control of my emotional health each day of the week, each moment of the day.”
Write it down. Post it on social media. Live in it. OWN IT.
