Assignment begins below. Please take the course of your week to complete. If it takes you longer, that is okay. Be patient with yourself as you thoughtfully think through it all.
Goal
A Social Work Experiment:
A few years ago while still in grad school, one of my classes was a program evaluation class. You have a program, you insert an intervention, you evaluate said interventions affects on the program. It sounds simple but it was way more involved. It is tedious data collection every day and who has time for that in this day and age? Except one thing…I realized that in my project, exercise…when inserted into my lifestyle…was the game changer on my life. Yes, I used my life as the project to prove that blood pressure was controlled by my lifestyle changes. It is part of how Renegade Soul was born.
Identify
Let’s take a look at ourselves for this week and insert a thing. I won’t tell you WHAT to insert but here are some ideas:
The weather has turned a little brisk, insert a walk around the block in the brisk air. Do it daily. See if it helps you with clarity.
Take a Yoga Class. Ground your thoughts, mind, and body at once. Better yet, try a HOT YOGA class. Get real uncomfortable.
Drop your carbs for a week. Force your body to burn without carbs and see how you respond. You’d be surprised how focused you can become with a simple change like this
Add a journal entry of prayer this week. Dedicate your mornings to writing out your prayers. The difference in how you pray might just give you the hyper focus you need when trying to tap into your relationship with your spirit.
There are countless ways to self evaluate, just find one that is outside of your normal. When you do, begin. Each day, write in your journal any changes you see…no matter how small. At the end of the week (6 consecutive days), write an entry about the entire experience. Was it helpful? Did you learn something new about yourself? Will this be a thing that helps you with your lifestyle changes?
Affirmation
Self Evaluation is necessary and I do all things necessary for me.
