Assignment begins below. Please take the course of your week to complete. If it takes you longer, that is okay. Be patient with yourself as you thoughtfully think through it all.
Goal
IMPOSTER SYNDROME: Can we talk about this for a little while?
When I looked up what imposter syndrome entails, i found this: “Imposter syndrome, also called perceived fraudulence, involves feelings of self-doubt and personal incompetence that persist despite your education, experience, and accomplishments. To counter these feelings, you might end up working harder and holding yourself to ever higher standards.” (Google)
Re-read that.
Re-read that again.
To counter these feelings, you might end up working harder and holding yourself to ever higher standards. I don’t know about you but I feel seen.
Journal entry: Explore imposter syndrome in your life. Where have you not given yourself credit for your abilities and grace for your own human shortcomings? Why do you think imposter syndrome exists in your life? Did someone TELL you you weren’t good enough? Or is the enemy playing tricks on you? Write it all out. Then re-read the statement above and read what you wrote.
Identify
Now that you’ve explored our own imposter syndrome, you’ve probably already identified a couple origins of your own syndrome, right? List two of them as bulleted points in your journal with a little space to write underneath (about 4-5 lines).
Look at that list. Now, tell yourself that you FORGIVE YOURSELF for ever doubting you.
Affirmation
“I am exactly who I say I am.”
“I deserve everything I’m working for.”
Start with those affirmations, then come up with your own…write them under bulleted list of origins. Remind yourself of just how dope you really are as you write them down.
