Assignment begins below. Please take the course of your week to complete. If it takes you longer, that is okay. Be patient with yourself as you thoughtfully think through it all.
Goal
Wild and free is the name of the game this week! WILD. AND. FREE.
Sam, what in the world are you talking about now? I can just hear you now…so let me just explain. In my many journeys that life has set me on, I have found one thing in common with all…I’ve had to do some really wild things in each of them in order to be free in the journey itself. Wild is in the eye of the beholder. What is wild to you may not be wild to others, right? But what is wild in the moment of the decision being made might be something you’ve never had to do before. For example, when I decided that I would be a full time trainer and no longer report to work, I did this wild and crazy thing that I would have never ever thought to do before…I quit. I just put in my notice. I did not talk to my husband. I did not talk to my friends. I just…QUIT. I have not looked back and I have no regrets. WILD. It lead to freedom. Is everything easy peasy now? Not always, but I am definitely FREE now to work my business as I see fit. Another example, maybe not so wild as just quitting a job…in my other lifestyle change as a competitor, my meal prep takes up the entire refrigerator. ENTIRE. I’m not talking about a small fridge either…I have a family of 5 so the main fridge reflects that! So what wild crazy thing did I do? I went and bought a mini fridge JUST FOR MEAL PREP. I just showed up with it. My husband said to me “where are we supposed to put THAT?” Hell, I didn’t know. But it wound up in the dining room right next to the mini bar. I’d be remiss to mention that I also have a treadmill in my living room right now for my early morning cardio. WILD. But free to execute on every level.
What’s a wild thing you could do that could lead you straight to freedom? It’s scary, I know. But it IS that one thing that could propel you right into success with your lifestyle change. In your journal, name that wild thing. And then talk yourself through what that wild thing would mean for your lifestyle…and how you can make that wild thing happen.
Identify
Why is that thing so wild??? What societal norm has us so comfortable in our routine that we find it difficult to make adjustments that seem way off? For me with the job…it was the direct deposit. I was literally a slave to it. For the fridge, it was a ridiculous notion that I really didn’t have the money for. But was it ridiculous to buy a thing to make life easier? Or to take up the family space with competition stuff and now the family can’t have leftovers? Truth be told…I had the money. It was the mind block around it. And yes, it’s absolutely wild to have a treadmill in my living room right now. Apparently wild is my middle name.
What’s in your way? Is it a societal norm? An upbringing thing? People in your household and their views? What is it? And what will this wild thing require of you?
WRITE ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW. Dig deep into your heart and into your past to get a sense of why you are set on your current routine that you find it hard to adopt a new one…
